The essentials.
We use National Home Doctor 13SICK (137 425) for after-hours care. Available weekdays before 8am and after 6pm, Saturdays before 8am and after midday, and all day on Sundays and public holidays. In a medical emergency, call 000.
Our practices operate by appointment only. A standard new patient consultation typically includes 60 minutes with the nurse and 30 minutes with the medical officer. Please forward any DVA paperwork as soon as you receive it.
All appointments are bulk billed to DVA or Medicare, except for CASA and FAA Pilot medicals which incur an out of pocket cost.
Booking an appointment is the best option. You may also leave a message with reception or email us. Please be mindful when sharing sensitive information by email, as our email system is not encrypted.
We offer telehealth for veterans in remote areas, in line with Medicare and DVA requirements. Whenever circumstances allow, face-to-face consultations remain the preferred choice.
All patients receive an SMS reminder 24 hours before their appointment. If you can't attend, please notify us early so we can offer the slot to someone on our waitlist. Missed appointments need to be rebooked by you.
Our team is committed to running on time, but medical care can be unpredictable. Reception will contact you about significant delays where possible. You're welcome to call ahead to check if we're running on schedule.
It is our policy that all test results are reviewed and discussed with a medical practitioner. Reception will contact you to arrange a follow-up appointment when required.
AVHS does not provide vaccination services. Patients are encouraged to access vaccines through their regular General Practitioner.
We arrange interpreters through Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National on 131 450, over the phone or, with 48 hours notice, on-site. This includes services for those with hearing or speech difficulties.
Your records are strictly confidential and accessible only to authorised personnel. We may share relevant medical information with other healthcare providers in line with the Privacy Act. Speak with a clinical manager for any questions.
Every patient has the right to be involved in decisions about their health, to request a second opinion, and to have personal information handled with the highest level of privacy and care.
Complaints & Compliments
