Mental health support that understands service.
At AVHS, we deliberately use the word Wellbeing. It better reflects our holistic approach, embracing strength and growth rather than focusing solely on illness. Caring for your psychological wellbeing is as natural and important as physical health.
We understand the unique challenges of military service. Many of us have served or are close to someone who has.
A qualified, experienced team of psychologists and mental health social workers with professional and personal understanding.
Diagnostic assessments, permanent impairment evaluations, and up to 12 support sessions during your claims journey.
What we can help with
Our psychologists and social workers offer a range of therapeutic approaches for conditions linked to service and the transition to civilian life.
Depression
Support for veterans experiencing low mood, lethargy, or a loss of purpose after service.
Anxiety
Recalibrate the heightened arousal that served you in uniform but persists long after.
Moral Injury
A safe, non-judgemental space to explore the events and values at the centre of the injury.
Anger Regulation
Expand the space between trigger and response, protecting the people who matter most.
Grief and Loss
Acknowledge and name your losses without judgement, comparison, or minimisation.
The Transition
A stable, informed point of contact as your routine, community, and identity all shift.
Sleep Difficulties (Insomnia)
Retrain a nervous system that learned to stay awake when it should be resting.
Alcohol and Substance Use
Understand the function alcohol or substances are serving, and build healthier coping.
Sexual Functioning
A safe, confidential space to discuss concerns without judgement.
Communication Challenges
Reconnect with partners and family after the shift from a high-alert environment.
Terminal Illness
Trauma-informed, compassionate care that honours service through every stage.
DVA Psychiatric Assessments
Please note: our Psychiatrists are available for diagnostic purposes only, not for treatment.
